Growing tummy
September 12th, 2012As your pregnancy begins to grow so does your tummy size. Most women love their growing tummy but fear the development of stretchmarks.
Stretch marks are a form of scarring on the skin, caused by the tearing of the dermis (inner or lower layer of cells that make up the skin). They are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth, weight and hormonal changes.
Our key ingredients for our stretch mark oil:
Wheatgerm oil which is rich in Vitamin A, D and E. Vitamin E is a natural powerful anti-oxidant, which fights against free radicals.
Sweet Almond Oil contains vitamin E in abundance, known as the food for our skin. Vitamin E is very nourishing and prevents cell damage.
Wheatgerm and almond oil both contain essential fatty acids (Omega 3, 6 and 9) which regulate cell function. The fatty acids maintain the integrity of cellular walls and their function plays a big part in healthy skin.
The blend of essential oils lavender, geranium and mandarin are very relaxing and have wonderful properties which the skin benefits from.
Lavender rehydrates the skin, geranium rebuilds cellular growth whilst mandarin balances the skin. These oils are non-toxic and non-irritating and are safe to use during pregnancy.
Please do not use essential oils during your first trimester.
Essential oils to avoid during pregnancy: (Grapefruit, Fennel, Peppermint).
Ask your therapist for a list of safe oils to use, there are only a few.
