Tranquil Body Treats

Desiree and I visited the Doulos Ministries sometime ago. The Doulos Care Centre cares for the ill and terminally HIV/AIDS positive children in Meyerton, South Africa. The children are given 24 hours care.

When we arrived Emma (founder) greeted us with open arms. Shortly after our arrival we started the tour. I have to admit that I never got further than the terminal ill room, fortunately there weren’t any children in the beds  but that didn’t stop me from bursting into tears. Those that know me, know that I don’t deal well when children suffer. Probably one of the reasons I was told I should not be a social worker, even though I desperately wanted to. My heart really ached. Desiree continued with the tour while I took a slow walk around the grounds, I didn’t want to upset anyone else with my tearful outbursts.

From a distance I stood watching the children play, laugh and sing. They soon noticed me staring and came running up to me to show me their toys or just to say hello. I desperately tried to fight back the tears. These kids who are ill were all so happy, full of smiles and well loved.

Tranquil Body Treats and The Robert Bruce Foundation have joined forces and are hosting a High Tea and Fashion Show to raise funds for these little orphans.
