Eczema a pain to some

August 4th, 2010

Eczema, an absolute pain to some. Unfortunately it affects people of any age. Very common in children. It is not contagious however it is believed to be partially inherited.

Doctors do not seem to know the exact cause of eczema, however if can be triggered by environmental allergens, soap, stress, change in temperature and poor diet.

The appearance of eczema differs from person to person but it mainly causes dry skin that itches or burns. Scratching generally leads to a thickened crusty skin.

As most of you are aware I am very passionate about my product line and always striving to do my best, always researching to find new and exciting treatments.  Recently I developed an awesome treatment cream for Eczema.  It truly is amazing stuff.

What makes this treatment cream so awesome is obviously the ingredients and the fact that it works. The cream consists of a variety of nourishing ingredients and of course the three top essential oils for problem skin.

I’ve received wonderful feedback from the following clients.

I like the cream. It helped with the dry areas around Wiid’s knees. Loved the smell of the cream. Both De Wet and Wiid have been very sensitive to any kind of fragranced creams. So, I’ve missed having the nice  smell with my two boys…  Ilke

I haven’t been using it more than twice a day and it’s definitely helped my eczema – and reduced the itchiness greatly! Thanks, Cindy.

Greetings, My (twin) boys have really suffered terribly in their nearly 3 years of life and it seems that your product is really helping. I have been using it for 2 weeks now and they are almost cleared!! They had a big op (tonsillectomy, grommets, etc etc) 2 weeks ago, so I am not sure if this has helped improve their skin too. ….but I will def come back and get some more cream from you shortly. Many thanks for your wonderful concoction!! Andrew

It is good as a general moisturiser. Don’t actually know if it cures the eczema as I have a case of just general dryness and it does not usually itch but it does treat the dryness sufficiently for the day. D

My mom loves the cream.  She says it is the best she has ever used and she will definitely tell all of her friends at the old age home.  Thank you once again – Regards, Roanne

I follow up with all of my clients within a week or two after they have purchased the cream.  The majority of the clients say that the cream helps ease or take away the itchiness and improves the dryness drastically.

The treatment cream must be applied 2 – 3 times a day on the affected area.  Yes! it is safe for babies too.

The treatment cream is available in 100 ml and 250 ml.

What is……….

August 4th, 2010

Yesterday, my hubby quickly read thru our monthly specials, post. I asked his advice cause I tend to blab a lot when writing.  Anyhoo he suggested I explain the meaning of Parabens and Laurel Sulphate.  Needless to say I was not impressed and simply said no! (cause everyone knows what they are, right?)

It took him less than five minutes to  forward me this e-mail, ever so politely asking me to read it. (P.S. I do not think you are stupid clients, I guess I was the stupid one thinking everyone will know the meaning)

Here are the explanations:

Parabens

Laurel Sulphate

I guess I should have listened to him in the beginning.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Trial and Error

August 1st, 2010

Often I am asked how and why I started the business and how I get the recipes etc. etc. etc.

Firstly, a very good client of mine suggested I try and make my own body scrub as the one I was using in the salon was so overpriced. I was then inspired by Tam who started her own range and a contact in Australia who had an online shop with her own brand.

In my past life I was in medicine (don’t freak out), I am a believer with a very open mind LOL

As a beauty therapist, aromatherapist and reflexologist I have much knowledge on skin, essential oils, beauty, body care etc. At class you are taught the basics on making your own products.

I’d like to clear something before I go on.  I follow formula’s not recipes, please – I am not a chef. If my products were anything like my cooking, I’d have no brand.

I am very, very fortunate to have two wonderful people that assist me with formula’s and are always ready to help me with advice etc.  Arnold a pharmacist assists me with my formulas and lab testing for my face and body range. Jackie provides me with detailed info on certain ingredients.  Not all ingredients are “user friendly”, some don’t gel to well with others and there is a need to know HOW, WHY and WHEN to mix.

A lot of my product making is also trial and error. I blend, mix, add, dilute etc and only once the product is 100% and tested on a client base is it good to launch.

I don’t just get a brain wave, jot it down on my pad and then dash to the kitchen and start mixing. Their is a lot of thought and process that goes into having a skin and body care range. There are also a lot of rules and regulations that need to be followed with regards to hygiene, labels, preservatives, essential oils, natural or organic etc. (but that I’m afraid is for another post).

Our first big one

July 30th, 2010

About two weeks ago, two lovely ladies popped into our shop – they were attracted by the wonderful fragrances and the decor.  Even I must admit our shop is beautiful. Anyhoo, we got chatting and they asked loads of questions and were totally impressed that I make the products, I bottle the products and I label the products.

I eventually discovered they were sisters just out for a girly catch up. One of them asked if I’d be interested in a launch they host twice a year, she worked for Nicci Boutique (an exclusive boutique), at first I thought she was joking BUT it seems she wasn’t.

A week later I received a beautiful e-mail from her asking if I’d like to be a part of their summer launch as she thought our products would fit right in. Wow, I felt honoured! (other product houses involved would be Clarins etc)

My partner in crime (my hubby) and I decided it would be a great marketing strategy and we agreed.  We were asked to select a bath product (they quite liked our bath milkshake). This past week I made 320 bath milkshakes and we delivered them yesterday.

320 bath milkshakes

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity and I know your clients will love their gift.

Shea Butter You Rock

July 23rd, 2010

If I could add Shea Butter to my bath oil range I would, if I could add Shea Butter to my bath salts I would.  Okay you get the picture.  I love Shea Butter.

Shea Butter otherwise known as Butyrospermum Park it is an awesome product and a must ingredient for most skin and body care products.

It is wonderful to your skin. It is found in Africa and comes from the wild Shea Karite tree, the Shea is extracted from the nuts.  The nuts are high in fatty acid which is why it is such a superior butter.

We use 100% natural Shea, no solvents have been added to the butter.  Our Shea Butter contains high amounts of Vitamins A, E and F which protects and promotes healthy skin.    While providing anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties, Shea easily penetrates the skin without clogging up the pores.  Shea is wonderful for repairing cracked, dry or chapped skin and has a much higher content of fat compared to other natural oils/butters.  Shea is also wonderful for minor burns, sores, scars, diaper rash, psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions.

I use Shea Butter in my body mousse, mom to be mousse, baby mousse, kids mousse, gentleman’s mousse, salt scrub (yes salt scrub) and my entire facial range.

You need to ask yourself why use products on your skin that are potentially harmful?   My advice is go natural – go the Tranquil Body Treats Way!

P.S. If you are allergic to nuts you may want to avoid Shea Butter.

About me……….

July 22nd, 2010

I am otherwise known as “Fairy Girl” to bloggers or “Leigh” from Tranquil Sanctuary and Tranquil Body Treats.

I am so excited about my new blog. My posts will be somewhat different to the one’s I post in “Fairy Girl”.

This blog will relate to beauty, specials I have on offer, skin and body care products etc.  A whole load of exciting “girly” stuff, things we need to know, want to know and should know.

I am open to post requests, questions etc. obviously relating to the subjects of beauty and skin care. If I don’t have the answers or appear to be clueless, I’ll search until I find what you’re looking for.

I believe in the all natural way of skin care. I’m not a fan of “Botox” or “Filler” and I don’t offer laser treatments or peels at my salon.  I believe in using a good affordable product and following a good beauty regime. Tranquil Body Treats has an awesome facial range which is now used in my salon.

Don’t get me wrong I have many clients that have Botox and or Filler done and I don’t hold it against them.

If you are keen to have either of those treatments done, I recommend a qualified Doc or a dermatologist and most certainly not a beauty therapist unless she has certification to do so.

I really hope you’ll enjoy my posts, please keep a look out for our next one  ”Shea Butter You Rock”.

We have opened a shop

May 31st, 2010

A real brick and mortar shop.

Lifestyle Garden Centre has recently opened a Gourmet Market, with various stalls selling excellent natural products.  We’ve decided to make it a bit easier for people to sample our products, and have opened a stall in the market.

So, if you want to experience our products for yourself before actually buying them, please come around and do so.  We have a table full of samples for you to smell and feel, but please don’t take a bite like so many people are tempted to do when smelling it.
